The school board voted this week to appoint Semo, whose employment officially starts on July 1, which is the official beginning of the 2017-18 school year.
Semo will replace Peter Kuczma, who is retiring after a second stint in the district. Kuczma ended his first stint in Chappaqua in 2002 and then returned in 2012, the district noted in its announcement.
"Jason is a well-rounded educator whose past experiences align with our mission to create a community for learning, where students, parents and staff are joined in the pursuit of academic excellence and personal growth in a caring environment," the district noted in its announcement.
Semo's coaching and teaching career spans roughly 18 years, having started in 1999, the district noted.
He was named to an athletics administrative post in the Liberty Central School District in 2006 and has served as athletic director in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District since 2014, the district said.
